Star Wars, Game of Thrones or Star Craft. Eben viel „nerdiges Zeug".
For the self-made fondant I need 75 ml water and 3 tea-spoons of gelatin. We mix it and leave it to swell for about 10 minutes.
Now I do the mixture in the Thermomix (my kitchen machine). I also add 150 ml self-made sugar syrup (cook 150 g sugar with 150 ml water). We heat it up for the gelatin to dissolve. It should not boil.
When the gelatin is dissolved I add a piece of coconut fat (25 g). And we heat it up to melt. Afterwards we let the mixture cool down.
Now we add the icing sugar: 1,4 kg. That's a lot!
Now the Thermomix has to knead us the fondant.
The dough for the cupcakes is really simple: 3 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar, 1 sachet of backing powder, 1 sachet of vanilla sugar, 4 eggs, 1 cup of rapeseed oil and 1 cup of Fanta. Put it all together and mix it!
Then fill the dough into the muffin liners and put it in the oven and bake it for about 25 minutes at 175° top and bottom heat.
To color the fondant I use yellow food coloring. First I put a few drops on the white fondant and then I knead from the outside to the inside.
With a big knife I leveled the top of the cupcakes. Now I put the frosting on the cupcakes. It is self-made out of Butter, icing sugar and cream cheese (Philadelphia).
With the frosting the fondant will not stick to the cupcakes. And it tasts very good!
After the cupcakes are all covered with frosting I put them for about 10 minutes in the fridge.
Now the minion-cupcakes are finished! I'll show you one. They look that way.
I rolled out the fondant and put it over the cupcakes. Then I cut around it with a knife.
For their faces I printed out pictures from the internet to have a copy and to know how they look.
For the gray glasses I took a bottle cap and a thimble. For the bigger eyes I used a round pastry cutter and the bottle cap again. So you don't need expensive backing stuff you only have to be creative.
To put the fondant-decoration in place I took a brush and a toothpick.
You put the brush in water and then wet the place where you want to place the decoration. You can also pick up the little hairs easier with the brush or the toothpick.
